I had a busy weekend with cake making! We celebrated my B-I-L Merritts B-day this past Sunday....so I made him an Ice cream cake. He likes Oreo's, so I made a cake with 3 chocolate cake layers, 2 cookies N' cream ice cream layers, frosted in chocolate cool whip, and then covered in Oreo cookie crumbs. It wasn't a difficult cake, just hard to transfer without melting! Thanks to my parents for letting me borrow their cooler to preserve the cake during the drive. Thanks! The other cake I did this past weekend was for a little girls birthday party. Hailey was invited to Taylee's party...and I offered to make the cake so I could get some practice. I do love learning and trying new techniques. Taylee loves The Chronicles of Narnia....so I decided to do a Wardrobe cake. It's not exactly like the one from the movie-but it's similar. I did Funfetti cake, iced in a yummy buttercream ( thank you Jaymie for the great buttercream recipe), then covered it in white fondant...and painted it to make it look like wood. My camera isn't the best for taking pictures of cakes....the cake had a glossy sheen so the pictures are a little hard to see. It took a lot of time, but I really enjoyed trying something new and feeling proud of what I did. Everyone seemed to like the cake at the party-and it tasted good too!! Thank you to my Aunt Julie too who makes FABULOUS cakes, she told me how to do some of the techniques-thanks Julie! Her website is posted on my page underneath favorite sites-you should check her out!

What's up with Whit?
Where do I start? I've done a few posts about Hailey lately, but haven't mentioned what Whitney is up to. Whitney is full of life. She's our little monkey, into everything, climbing on top of tables and couches, and screaming as loud as she can. She is quite the character. She has now figured out how to blow on my growing belly, she giggles and laughs everytime she does it. She likes to make animal sounds and point out body parts that she knows. She talks alot like her mom and sister, but has decided that when she says "Hi" or "Bye" it has to be at a screaming level in order to get her point across. She's a funny girl. She definately keeps us on our toes and teaches us new things everyday. She's really good at making messes, just like "Tornado Hailey", so we'll have to think of a clever name to call her soon. We love her and wouldn't have her any other way!

Guess What?
The official results are in!!! We have been waiting anxiously to find out what we are having-and after 2 different appointments, and 3 ultrasounds later.....the baby finally showed us what it is! The baby kept covering itself with its hands....so all we could see were a bunch of fingers between the legs. It didn't help that the umbilical cord was running right between the legs either-this baby just wanted to keep us guessing!! So for all of you who guessed a boy-you were right. We are now having a baby boy! We are excited to see how different a boy is compared to both of our girls.....and excited for a change of pace as well. Two girls and a boy-we are so blessed!

What are these called?
Tonight I had an interesting SHORT conversation with Hailey....it went like this:
ME-Hailey, what are these things called? (I hold up a set of headphones)
Hailey-Those are Daddy's new earmuffins.
End of conversation.
I love all the cute little things she is saying recently, it won't last forever-so here's to remembering what our little ones say.
Thought it was funny-thought I'd share it with you.
