A Tribute to Friends

I thought it would be kind of fun to post a blog about my closest friends and show them off a bit. For any of my friends I didn't list...please don't be upset, I love you too...these are my closest of friends. A tribute to you to let you know that I love you.

My Best Friend and Eternal Companion...Dan. I love him so much. I'm so glad that I can be with him forever and that I get to share my life with him. I love that he's so good with little girls....he's such a cute dad with the kids. I love that he can always make me laugh, and that he can put up with all of my talk...talk...talking!! Thanks for being my friend...and everything else.

My Mom....my hero. If I can be a fraction of what she is....I will be happy! Throughout it all..she's always there to love me, serve me, help me, tell me, show me.....EVERYTHING! I will never be able to thank you enough for all you have taught me by words and by example. I love you.

I have some great friends within my family...my cousins-I have some great memories with you guys! I will cherish the good ol' days always!
I have some GREAT friends from Middle/ High School, they're my non-family BEST FRIENDS! I wouldn't have made it through all of my High School adventures without you guys. I miss you both, and wish we could see each other more often. (Steph and me at her wedding, Me and Brynn post High School...but pre-marriage.)

These pictures are of me and my sister-in-laws ( Dan's sisters) we all have such a great time together....I'm so happy to have a family of sisters! I love them and am so excited to be able to call them my friends.

Happy Anniversary La Torta Rica!

This past weekend we celebrated our evening at one of our Favorite Restaurants. La Torta Rica celebrated its 1st Anniversary!! They had a mariachi band, bounce houses, GREAT food,

balloons, and lots of other fun stuff. We had a blast and ended up staying for a few hours. Any local that haven't tried this place need to go, it's so yummy...I'm almost a once a weeker!!! Tortas are the specialty at this place, but they have everything from enchiladas and tacos, to salads and kids meals, everything I've tried is good!

Hailey got a balloon and was so excited....but unfortunately she let it go...and was devastated!

We met a lot of Dans family at the restaurant and celebrated together, we had a great time.

You can look up La Torta Rica online and view their menu, or just go there...the crossroads are 91st Ave and Thomas in the southeast complex. I'm not just saying it's yummy because it's my father-in-laws restaurant...it REALLY IS YUMMY, give it a try!

Found this picture...who wants cake?

I emailed this picture to some of my friends a few weeks ago to show off my first try with fondant. I haven't taken any cake classes or anything...but would love to someday. I'm experimenting on family members birthday cakes to try and develop a talent for cake making. This cake was made for my nephew Quinns 6th birthday. HE loved it...and that's all that really matters to me. My next attempt is going to be an Elmo cake with Fondant. I've done and Elmo cake with frosting...but it was way to sweet to eat, so I'm trying fondant for Whitneys 1st birthday party. I hope it goes well! I'll take some pictures and show you all how it turned out!

Nothing exciting...

I just had some cute pictures I wanted to post for everyone to see. I've been taking some pictures of the girls in different colors for a book that my mom is making, so these are what came from that. That's all....nothing exciting.

Messes

So, I was trying to figure out some more things about blogging....and it took me awhile. Heck, I'm still trying to figure everything out! This is what happened last time I was on the computer

updating my blog.

The girls unraveled the toilet paper and then went on to start shredding it. I thought it was funny, so I grabbed the camera and took a few pictures. Don't they look guilty? I better go and see what they're doing right now!

Our little weekly Adventures

We went out to eat at Texas Roadhouse this past weekend. The highlight of the night was having the balloon guy make the girls an animal, they loved it!

We also pretended that we had a train in our house....and the girls were going for a long train ride...it was so funny to see them stuffed in the train. ( really a huggies diaper box!)

We went to Papa and Lala's house (dan's parents) to play with their new waterslide. Hailey and MJ played in the water, but didn't want to go down the slide. Whit just enjoyed watching with the adults. We had a few laughs when the dog got involved....but the kids had a good time overall.

Hurray!

I swear...I'm not going to write something EVERYDAY, this has just been a really busy week for us. Today was the day, Hailey finally went to the bathroom on the potty!! HURRAY! For any of you who don't know...Hailey has been anti-potty for as long as I can remember. We've been trying the potty training thing off and on for awhile...but no success. Hailey kicks and screams all the way there...and then trying to get her to sit on the toilet was like trying to put a cat in a sink full of water. Get the picture?! Today she just said, " Mommy, gotta go poop in the potty and get a Barbie Jasmine and Bell," ( her major awards if she goes)...but she says that phrase everyday, and whenever we try to get her to go. I guess this time she meant it! I was busy at the moment and so I yelled at Dan to take her into the bathroom-and she actually did it! WE are so proud! Hopefully this will be the start of a wonderful thing....just think, only buying ONE size of diapers instead of two!!!

Losing weight?

Anyone out there trying to lose weight? I know I am! I just want to be pre-2nd pregnancy size, is that too much to ask?! Anyway, I was introduced to this website awhile ago called Sparkpeople...and it has everything! It helps you keep track of what food you're eating, how much you're consuming, goals, excercises, it will even make you a grocery list for the week. I love it, it helps me to stay on track to achieve my goal (eventually). If you're trying to cut back or just get healthier...you should check it out for yourself.

GOT BROWN?!

Ok, here's an interesting story. Today I was putting Whitney down for her afternoon nap without any success of coarse, when Hailey came into my bedroom. She was standing in the doorway with her hands behind her back and had such an eager look on her face. She said, "Mommy, whats on my hands?" I replied, "I don't know, what's on your hands?" Hailey's response was, " On my fingers!" I replied, "What's on your fingers?" She then excitedly put her hands up in the air in front of her to show me. "Look mom," she said, " I got Brown." Now you are probably thinking of something gross, smelly, and of human nature right now...and let me tell you-all of your thoughts are correct. Yep, she had brown on her hands and in her diaper! Luckily those are the only 2 places that were dirty, and the clean up was simple too. So there's my interesting story of the day. I didn't take any pictures to post with this story.....you wouldn't want to see then anyway!

Busy week!

This week has been crazy! My girls have had the stomach flu. Let's just say I'm tired of cleaning up human messes, and just plain tired! They are starting to get better....eating and drinking more so I'm not as worried.
This past Saturday I received a phone call at 9:30 in the morning. It was my mom, she said she was taking my dad to the ER because she found him lying on the kitchen floor. He wasn't feeling good the night before...and he was covered, no, drenched in sweat. To make a long story short, my dad is now coming home today (Tuesday) and is ok. He was bleeding internally and needed a diagnosis and a few blood transfusions. It was kind of scary! If my mom didn't take him-he could have bled to death without even knowing it! He will be starting some new medication and will need to have another transfusion in about 6 weeks. Meanwhile my mom is still recovering from foot surgery-she still needs some time to fully recover.
I told you this week has been crazy! Here's hoping to a healthy week to come!

Utah trip, July 2008

We recently returned from a vacation up to Utah. We went up to Midway, Utah to get together with family for the 24th of July. It was great to see family members that we hadn't seen for awhile. My girls loved all of the attention they received and loved being outside. We went to the lake and enjoyed the sand and sun....hailey even got on the tube behind the boat! We had a great time and hope to have more memories in Midway.
