My Fun Cake Stuff!

For the last year or so I've really been into the whole cake world. I love looking at professional cakes, trying new recipes, self-teaching to create new things and try out new techniques. I guess you could say it's my hobby. I don't have much time, but I look for any excuse to try something new. I just love it! These are my latest gifts or purchases that make cake decorating and transporting so much easier.
The Cupcake Courier

This is the best product EVER made for transporting cupcakes! It will fit 36 cupcakes, and not a single one will get smashed or ruined! You can also take off the trays and put a regular 13X9 cake. The trays are also narrow enough to fit in my side by side freezer. I'm loving this product!

Cake Plates

These cake plates came as a set, so you can use them separately or combine them together. Stacked they display an array of desserts, or a great way to display cupcakes. Alone they make a nice, simple cake stand to show-off your latest cake!!

The Cake Caddy

This was my Mother's Day gift from Dan. I'm so excited to use it. This will make it easy to transport cakes and also keep them protected and safe while traveling. I'll have to use this next month when I make my Dads birthday cake. Thanks Dan!
I know this post is really boring and stupid to most of you. For any of you cake lovers out there....this post is for you to enjoy!

Mother's Day 2009

This is how my Mother's Day started off! Dan made me some homeade pancakes from scratch...along with some Orange-honey butter syrup from scratch too. It was VERY yummy and such a treat! We had a busy day planned for us, so it was such a nice way to start the day. Thank you Dan for my great breakfast-what a nice guy!!

We went to my S-I-L's ward to participate in the blessing of her baby. The blessing went well and then we were able to go eat at her house afterwards. It was so fun to see family AGAIN that day....2 days of extended family in 1 weekend! The food was yummy and the company was good. The kids loved playing outside and eating cupcakes. Adam took some pics of the kids with their cupcakes, I'll have to get some copies for all of you to enjoy. So where are the pictures you ask? I'm a complete DORK and didn't even pull out my camera!!! I didn't get any pics of the kids playing, my mother-in-law opening her gifts, the family, or even of the beautiful little outfit that baby Josie was wearing!! I'm so mad at myself!

I ended up making cupcakes for the blessing and had a good time doing it. I bought a new cupcake caddy to transport cupcakes....it worked great-I love it! I made some J's out of fondant and let them dry.....they were the cupcake topper, a J for Josie. They turned out cute-and tasted good, and I had so much fun making them!

We went over to my parents house for dessert and to celebrate. We gave my mom her gifts, and then just spent some time watching the kids play. We had a good time and hope that she had a Happy Mother's Day!

Getting Crafty!

They are finally here! I ordered some new hairbows for my girls online, and they are now here after 2 weeks of me waiting anxiously! I found them on a website and they were cheap-$1 a piece. They let you pick what style bow, what size you want, what attachment (french clip or alligator), and if you want a flat center or a knot center. I loved having all of those options. They also had a 2 bows for free coupon. I ordered 2 of all of the colors I needed, 28 bows for $26. I couldn't buy the ribbon and attachments for that price!
Now the question is.....how do I store them all? Where do I put them? I started looking online and found a bunch of cute ideas....but they were asking way to much money for what it actually was. I went to Michaels and purchased a board, some paint, some ribbon, and a few little embellishments and ta-da, my very own bow organizer. So this is what I made!

Sick, Sick, Sick!

This year has probably been the hardest cold/flu season for our family. We just can't seem to get completely well for more than a week at a time! Does anyone else have this problem? We had the whole stomach flu thing over Easter, and then a few weeks later a cold thing hit us. It doesn't just hit all of us at once either....it starts with 1 kid.....and then slowly works it's way to the next-so it's like 2 weeks before everyone is well again. It's so frustrating! Hailey started off with the cold, just a low-grade fever and mild stuffiness, I just thought she was having some allergy issues for the first few days....and then the cough started. Whitney started with a mild fever a few days after Hailey, but she's also getting some teeth....so I thought she was just teething! Like I said...it starts with 1 kid, and then slowly moves on to the next. Hailey didn't get the cold very badly, a cough and stuffiness is about it. That then led to and Ear infection. So a cold and an ear infection in 1 kid. Whitney was hit much harder by this cold. Burning with fever, sleeping on top of Mommy's prego belly for a few nights in a row, coughing to the point of exhaustion! It was horrible to see her feeling so miserable. Turns out she had Bronchitis on top of her nasty cold. Cold and Bronchitis in 2nd kid. Each kid just finished their 7-10 days of prescriptions and on top of all that FUN time with sick kids-I ended up getting that stupid cold too! NO FUN! Luckily for Dan....and other family members, we're the only 3 who have been sick. I'm in the end days of the cold and am feeling much better. Kids seem to be back to themselves and feeling well too-thank goodness. There were a few good things that came out of being sick-we made lots of smoothies, and the girls got some new pj's to sleep in from grandma and grandpa. I thought they looked so cute in their nightgowns...so here are some pics to show them off. Thank you grandma and grandpa for the new pj's and for helping out with blessings, we appreciate all you do!
