STUDY THESE PICTURES

ARE YOU REALLY LOOKING?

DO YOU NOTICE SOMETHING ALL OF THESE PICTURES HAVE IN COMMON?
A BINKY.
YEP, HER VERY BEST FRIEND IN THE WHOLE WORLD.
DADDY & MOMMY WANT TO GET RID OF IT, BUT ARE SCARED OF BEDTIME, AND NAPTIME, & WHENEVER SHE GET'S HURT.
ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO GET RID OF IT WITHOUT RUINING HER LIFE?
I'M ALL EARS!
I'D LOVE TO KNOW IF ANY OF YOU HAVE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND WHAT YOU DID TO HELP YOUR LITTLE ONE ADJUST TO THE CHANGE.
WE LOVE YOU WHIT!

Lincoln started with his thumb and wanted nothing to do with a binkie. After a while he loved the binkie and we were also worried about getting rid of it.

The day he turned 18 months we decided it had to go! We went to build a bear and got him a stuffed animal that he could use as his comfort item. I cut the top off of one of his binkies in front of him and told him that they were all gone.

It probably took him about 4 days to get used to life without it (these days were rough), but I am so happy we did it when we did! Maybe you could try something like that?

Good Luck!

Wish I could give you some advice, but Kernan is 3 and still uses his at nap and bed time... I just can't get rid of that one last piece of "baby" in him! Plus, when he doesn't have it in his mouth, he grinds his teeth in his sleep! I hate that sound!
Although with Maci we "lost" it and explained that to her and she was fine! It actually surprised us how well she did!!
PS- Parker is adorable!! I haven't had a moment to comment and tell ya that! Our summer has been crazy!! :) You make some dang cute kids!!

Just don't worry about it until she's five =). Seriously, if she needs it for emotional comfort, what's the harm? Start introducing other forms of comfort (music/cuddles/stories/handholding/stuffed animal etc) at bed/naptime and she'll eventually accept a substitute.... hopefully! =) Good luck!

We cut the Binky in half on the rubber part and then told Austin it was "broken." He tried to suck on it and when he couldn't we encouraged him to throw it away and it worked like a charm. With Zoe she was told that the binky fairy would come and leave a doll if she gave up her binky. That one also worked. Good Luck. I'm passed that point and now working on potty training...something I haven't done in I don't know how many years.

A friend of Mine had a visit from the Binky fairy who comes and collects all of the binkies from big girls to give to all the babies.--The fairy leaves a new toy in it's place. No word yet on how it worked...try at your own risk. :-)

I'm all ears, too!!!

I call it MJ's "drug". So funny, yet so frustrating!

Hmmm...we took Wellyn's binkie away a few months back and it didn't work. After a week he still was screaming for two hours before bed and naptime and not sleeping through the night. We finally gave it back but only at bedtime.
In a couple of weeks I will start to trim the binky down and let you know how that works, I hear it is the only way for a kid as addicted as Wellyn and Whit!
Good luck!

Well Reagan loved her Binki so much so the binki monster came and cut the tip off the binki and left it for her to find...We also did it to three others so that when she found other they were all the same{make sure you find all the binki and hide them excepet the four you cut} Reagan keep the cut binki for a few day trying to suck on them but after awile she just could care less. We even let her take them to bed. Man the funny thing is she would take the binki out of her mouth and look at it like I know there is something wrong wth this but she just couldn't figure out what. It worked great for us, Maybe it will help you.

GOOD LUCK
